O'Brien Plumbing is a registered NDIS provider for home modifications across the Central Coast and Northern Sydney. We work with Occupational Therapists, Support Coordinators, and Plan Managers to deliver accessible plumbing solutions that help participants live more independently at home.
Home modifications under the NDIS are changes to a participant's home that help them move around more safely and easily. As licensed plumbers, we specialise in the water-related and accessibility modifications that make bathrooms, kitchens, and laundries safer and more functional.
Grab Rail Installation: Bathroom, toilet, shower, and hallway grab rails. Stainless steel and powder-coated options. Fixed to structural supports for maximum safety.
Accessible Tapware: Lever-handle taps and mixer replacements for participants with limited grip strength or dexterity. All major brands — Caroma, Dorf, Grohe.
Hand-Held Shower Conversions: Convert fixed shower heads to adjustable hand-held units with slide rails. Ideal for seated showering or carer-assisted bathing.
Level-Access Showers: Remove hobs and convert step-in showers to level-access (step-free) entries. Includes waterproofing, drainage relocation, and tiling coordination.
Toilet Height Modifications: Raised toilet suites, wall-hung toilets, and bidet seat installations for participants who need higher or more accessible seating.
Accessible Bathroom Renovations: Full bathroom modifications including layout changes, wider doorways, roll-in showers, and accessible vanities. Coordinated with OT specifications.
How NDIS Home Modifications Work
Occupational Therapist Assessment: An OT assesses the participant's home environment and functional needs. They produce a report recommending specific modifications with clinical justification.
Quote & NDIS Approval: We receive the OT report and provide a detailed quote itemising labour, materials, and compliance requirements. The NDIA, plan manager, or support coordinator approves funding.
Scheduling & Installation: We schedule the work at a time that suits the participant. Our licensed plumbers complete all modifications to Australian Standards (AS/NZS 3500, AS 1428.1) with minimal disruption.
Sign-Off & Documentation: Work is inspected, compliance certificates issued, and photos provided. We handle invoicing directly with the plan manager or NDIA — participants don't manage payments.
